This painting comes from the memory of a busy restaurant — staff and patrons circulating through a space while you sit still, taking in a view that's fixed even as everything moves quickly through it. It's the kind of memory that fills up a lot of our minds without us noticing. I tried to recall that feeling of movement through a space and capture the pattern of it here, almost as if seen from above.
